Digital Badge 5 on Social Media

This blog is written for the SSSC digital thing 5 badge on social media. The blog intends to reflect how I manage the challenges posed by use of social media and to offer a critical reflection of my own organisation's social media policies and guidance. I have recorded my activities in a journal entry and I will be using parts of the journal to create this blog post. The task included reviewing the policy and guidance of my council and reading the 2 specific articles on social media. I do subscribe to several social media platforms but I am very cautious about what I post and who I interact with. I would not post anything that could compromise my professional standing or that would reflect badly on my employer. I tend to use WhatsApp to communicate with family and friends. I have a twitter account but it has privacy settings. I tend not to use Facebook very often and I do find that this is my least favourite app because it is so public. Why Digital Badge 3

This is a blog entry summarising the reading and consideration I have participated in to try to secure the third digital SSSC Badge titled Why Digital. I found the information thrown up by this entry very relevant to my current practice and job role. Embracing digital technology has been essential in recording and evidencing service user information to be more transparent and enabling service users to have easier access to their information and data we hold on individuals.  Role of technology in providing protection, assurance, falls monitoring, medication prompts and  assistance are just some of the core areas technological developments have proved extremely effective.  The topics in this Badge raised the importance of examing my own attitudes to technology and also, as a manager, the importance of encouraging developments within my teams.  The Badge has 4 tasks, labelled below a), b), c) & d). SSSC 2nd Digital Badge Application

 This is my second blogpost. The purpose of the post is to achieve the Thing 2, the second of the badges I want to complete on my way to completing the 8 digital things. In order to complete this task I have had to learn how to create a blog, add a post (Thing 1). I have also learned how to write a reflective account, as per previous badge achieved re: evidence for a badge. The learning from this task is important to me as it is improving my knowledge and experience of utilising digital platforms which are becoming ever more important to my work and learning. First Blog - A Test of Change

I am thrilled to be writing my first ever blog. A blog with a purpose. I am attempting to get to grips with the wide resources within the SSSC supports for us as qualified social workers. Having a space that is tailored for social workers to capture our CPL (apologies for the anacronym - continuous professional development) is amazing. So far I've completed 3 badges, focussing on how to record and evidence learning. These badges focus learning and encourage reflection. The journal entries in my own SSSC app space are a great way to record learning but also to keep a record of the work and learning I am involved in on a daily basis. The badges and the journal entries are a SMART way for me to record my work in relation to learning and professional development. For those not familiar, SMART is specific, measureable, achieveable, realistic, timescale. I cannot recommend utilising the SSSC badge and journal more highly. Justifies the registration fee.
